There is no need to reformat to re-install. Just install over the top of the current instalation. Windows will re-write the registry and correct and errors and replace any corrupted files.

You may have to reinstall the USB drivers.

Hi

Any other usb devices working? Does the usb plug dirrectly into the motherboard or is it through a connection that has ben shunted to the front of the machine? Are you using a usb card?

As you probably moved the machine slightly to remove the case, I would suspect a bung usb connection.

I wouldn't rule out the usb cable either.

Plug something else into the usb ports to see if they are working.
A device may be fine under windows device manager but still not work. At least that is my experience with modems. These were driver issues and cable issues in my case.

how are you're USB ports connected to the motherboard? Built in, PCI card, or just a few wires from USB holes to Mobo?
If built in, check device manager, then webcam drivers.
If PCI card, remove and re-insert card(with power off obviously) check device manager for USB errors, then webcam drivers.
IF the last then check the wires are on fully to the mobo, then check webcam drivers. (this would not show any problems in device manager, would report USB working correctly even though not detecting anything)
