hi guys, I want to remove win98 completely from my computer and then reinstall it. But after deleting windows dir and, I get the message that an operating system allready has been installed. My boyfriend told me I have to format my harddisk, but then I would loose all kind of files which won't fit on a cdr. Is there a way to reinstall windows without deleting my whole harddisk? please help me

If you are using FAT 32, then Win 98 cannot be uninstalled. You didn't mention why you want to reinstall. Sometimes Windows can be installed over itself and cure some problems. To do this boot from a rescue floppy, making sure it contains cdrom drivers, then run setup again. This can cure some problems resulting from missing or corrupt system files.
