I want to reinstall my win98 but I don't want to lose anything that I have on my hardrive or any drivers. Is this possible? If it is can someone tell me how to do this step by step?

There's a couple options here...
-if you are reinstalling the program to replace missing files or to get it back to it's original state, then just go ahead and do so. you won't lose anything (although it is wise to back up everything you have JUST INCASE
-you could back up everything you have onto disc, and do a complete reformat and then reinstall everything (a pain in the @$$ but probably the best option)
-or finally you could partition your drive, using a program such as "Partition Magic" and simply move everything you don't want to lose onto a partitioned drive.

I'm sure there's other way's of doing what you want to, but those are the only 3 options my simple mind can come up with.

Very simple. Put your Win98 boot disk in your floppy and boot up. Choose the option to load with cdrom support. After it loads you'll see an A: prompt, just type SETUP and the installation should begin. You won't loose anything.

Mel,

If you do not have a win98 cd, you can still reinstall, as long as you have the reinstall files in your .CAB folders or /win98 folder on C:

------

You would have to reinstall from DOS, this would reinstall your win98 over itself without losing any data, folders, programs you already have,

BOOT TO DOS ---- start /shutdown / Restart in MS DOS

at the C:\>

Type the following commands and hit enter after each.

cd windows
cd options
cd cabs

you will see: C:\windows\options\cabs

Now type>
Setup

.......the reinstall now begins

You might also try
setup.exe instead of setup
-------
If the above didn't work, you might have your installation files in WIN98, follow these instructions to do the same as above, at the C:\>, type the following & hit enter after each,

cd win98
setup

-------

Windows will begin reinstalling itself, and should complete successfully, you may receive a few error messages about 'this file not found' etc, just write them down and you can add them later,

:)
