Your version has service packs 1 and 2 installed. If you reinstall Win95 I 'think' you might lose the two service packs. However I am not positive about this.

Reinstalling is usu only required to correct problems... not prevent them - it can restore corrupted files - if everything is fine, leave it be.
;-)
Not sure exactly what (if anything) will happen if you try to install '95A over '95B - could be problems. Reinstalling will prompt you if it is about to overwrite new file versions with old ones.

Please help me. I have an elderly Compaq Armada 1110. It still works well, and I love the design, and recommend it to others, still! The only problem is it is incredibly slow. It takes almost a minute for a Word document to reach the printer. I would like to do one of two things. My preference would be to format the hard drive and reinstall everything. My problem is that I have Windows 95 on a CD Rom, and I have an external Panasonic KXL-783A CD Rom connected through the PCMCIA Card. Although it works in Windows, I don't see how I can access it through DOS. I have downloaded the drivers from Panasonic, and apparently it works in DOS, but I seem to get stuck after hitting DOSINST - it copies files to C:/CDRM8, but I still can't get the D Drive through DOS.

The machine was incredibly fast when I first got it, but I guess it is just clogged up now. I have uninstalled everything I can, and compressed the C Drive, taking only about 600 Mb with 1.0Gb free. My preference would be to format and reinstall.

Otherwise, could I install extra RAM? It only has 8 Mb RAM on it, but there is an expansion port underneath it. I guess it might only be a small amount that was allowed. Can you advise me of how much RAM can be installed, the name or type of RAM, and where I can get it from.

Many thanks
