Subject: REINSTALLING WIN 95 |
Comment: Help. I have had problems with my frozen registry for weeks. I therefore feel I need to reinstall Win 95. However I have just found out that the c:\ is compressed. Does this mean I need to format the c:\. Can anyone help me, and if so lead me by the hand as to what i need to do step by step etc.

Reply: (edit)not if you want a fresh install and a formatted hard drive. right now your dos and windows can't decide what program you used to format the hard drive. if it was in dos, then there is a way to format the hard drive in dos. but if you formatted in windows(which is by far an easier method) then you can't format it because it is looking for the dos files when you try to format. i have tried this too many times. it just doesn't work. the only way you can go from here is to manually remove all files that dos or windows could detect as a compression software program. and my link above will give you step by step instructions on how to do that. T.
