Hi ,

I have been facing with the same kind of problem for last few days though i have no issue with the net speed and downloads.I have no problem with the home page also.

I get these message boxes at booting

1. info.exe - message

Access to the specified path or file is denied

2. Desktop - message

could not load or run info32.exe specified in the WIN.INI file. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the ref to it in the WIN.INI file.

I tried downloading CWShredder but i am unable to run it.

I have no problem with the home page also.

Please give me a solution for this if possible in a common mans language.

thanks
smitha

smitha, CWShredder would correct your problem. You say you can't run it, can you explain why? Are you getting an error that a file is missing or what? Post back.

smitha, You don't need info32.exe on your system. It's part of the CoolWebSearch hijacker which is causing this error message. If you can't unzip the CWShredder file to open it and run it go to the link below and download the "CWShredder.exe" version and double click it to run it.

CWSredder.exe

If the reason that you can't run it is because you get a message that "Msvbvm60.dll was not found" go to this link and download the "vbrun60sp5.exe" file and install it.

Visual Basic version 6

smitha, The CWShredder tool only runs when you run it and is not running all the time. It will not cause any problems with your Norton AV live. Glad to see your problem is corrected and Thanks for posting back to let us know.

I've been going nuts with this virus also. I called Comcast, Microsoft, etc. to no avail. I tried following other directions that I found but I just spun my wheels. Thank you Tufenuf for your all knowing wisdom. It took me all of 2 minutes once I read your instructions (response # @ above). Thanks again!!!!

OMG Thank you so much for this page. I was just about to have this IT guy from my job erase everything from my harddrive in hopes of finally getting rid of this irritating virus... or whatever it is. The CWShredder worked perfectly. Thank you.

Niall, Many of these parasites come in when using file sharing programs like Kazaa and also when you click on some pop-ups and accept some 3rd party downloads. Visiting porn sites is another way many people end up with this garbage. Two good Free programs that help in eliminsting this problem can be had at the links below.

SpywareGuard

SpywareBlaster

If you decide to use them keep them updated regularly.

I used the system restore on my compaq and it took it back to before I got the error and cleared it up. Maybe it will work on others. Good luck

Pop up window in CWShredder tells me to close all Browsers or it cannot do the fix.

I swear, I have all browsers closed. Bare desktop and disconnected from the net. I go ahead and run CWShredder and all seems OK. I do a Scan Only and the infection still shows up. Some of the glitches are removed, some are still there.

Thank You for your assistance. After over a week getting "assistance" from Dell Tech Support they finalle refered me to this site... finally, some progress!
