I am having few problems with IE5.Content Adviser box keeps poping up, says need password (none has ever been put in) Tried many different ways I have seen posted here. But still unable to fix it. Tried fixing IE though add/remove but tells me problems can't be fixed. Question if I remove IE going though add/remove, then download IE6 would this correct any problems? Is there any other place I need to look for IE files that need to be deleted other than add/remove? Thank You all for your help. I'm not a pro, but am learning new stuff all the time with your help.

u cant fully uninstall this because windows is based on it. But my advise here is download IE6 and tell it u want to just install it over IE5. But goog chances are the settings are saved in the folder. just a thought

Here's a couple ways to disable Content Advisor being more for people without the password, but it's related and good reference. . .
The first way allows you reset the password and completely disable Content Advisor, more for the people who "don't know the password", then for this case. And the second way resets password via the registry.
Download No Pics program here:
Completely disable Content Advisor Censorware, and change the password to '12345'. Use this if you forgot your Content Advisor password.
Download the program to your desktop.
Make sure all of the internet explorer browswers are closed, so you only see your desktop. Use ctrl alt del if you have to, but close everything or it won't work.
Double click file to run,
this will change your password to 1,2,3,4,5
use that to DISABLE the Content Advisor........
How to Disable Content Advisor in Internet Explorer (Windows 9x and NT)
The following steps will remove any password set in the Content Adivisor and allow you to reset the program to its original state or disable.1) Click on Start and choose Run.
2) Type in RegEdit and select OK.
3) Now click on the little plus sign to the left of [H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE].
4) Continue down, clicking the plus signs of the named key, through 'Software', 'Microsoft', 'Windows', 'Current Version' and 'Policies'. (ie.
+[H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]
+Software
+Microsoft
+Windows
+CurrentVersion
+Policies5) Now click on the Ratings folder.
6) In the right pane of the RegEdit window, you'll see an icon called Key.
Click on it and press Delete.7) Next, choose Registry and then Exit to exit RegEdit.
You've just deleted your original Content Advisor password.
8) Restart the computer and run Internet Explorer again.
9) Choose View and then Internet Options (or Options for version 3.x)
10) Click on the Content tab and if the (Enable/Disable) button still says Disable, click on it,
When asked for a password, don't enter anything; just click on OK.
This will disable Content Advisor because there's no longer a password.
