Reinstallation "overlaying" Win95

Comment:
I would be interested to find out if I can reinstall "overlay" Win95 after some of my files (I don't know which ones and how many) have been corrupted. I have Win95 Version B installed, my computer is Pentium 2, 266MHz, 64MB RAM and 4.3GB HDD. Is it possible to insert my Win95 Version B CD-ROM and just bring the ssystem to the original condition. The CD-ROM is that from which the Win95 was installed initially. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who had any experience with such "restoration" work. Regards Mike

You can but it may not correct all problems but it will change your registry settings back to default if you have made any changes, you should make a backup copy of it all or just the Keys you want to merge back later. None of your own files should be affected by re-installing Windows, have your OEM number handy [should be on your CD case on the Certificate of Authenticity above the bar code] and just follow the instructions, should take about 15-30 minutes and have your soundcard, printer and any other device drivers ready in case you need them or install them after setup. If you do not have the number click 'My Computer' and select 'properties' and your registered number is there under your name and make a note of it. It's important for the setup wizard or you can't re-install.
Summary: Also search your system registry for "noide" without the quotes. Win95 adds this to the system registry if it the IDE driver does not load correctly. If you find it remove it....
Summary: I need to reinstall windows95. In my Win95 folder 2 setup programs are listed. One says setup25i, and the other setup32. Which do I use? Again this will not effect my data or program preferances......
Summary: After reinstalling IDE Bus Controller, win95 crashes before changing resolution to window mode. I can boot to safety mode, but nothing seems to be wrong. What can I do to make things work?...
