Quick question. I'm having some difficulty with Windows 95 and was wondering instead of formatting can I reinstall over the old Win 95 and solve some problems?

You will most likely create more problems (corrupted files) then you solve.

Dirk: Also, when you try to reinstall Win95 over Win95 it will inform you that there is a newer version installed then you are trying to reinstall if you have installed the past updates as they came available. At least that is what I have run up against. Am I right? I would like some input as I have had this happen to me.

Installing windows over windows cannot corrupt files. While it usually doesn't fix major problems, its really no more than running a sytem file checker and replacing every file with a fresh one.

I agree with post #3. I have never created a new problem with an install over. Try it first and if it doesn't work, then you can resort the the 'drastic' format.
