Hi, I'm utilizing Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition and using Bellsouth's 2wire dsl to connect to the internet. I'm currently online but I can't access certain sites like file sharing and some games. I've searched on this problem and it appears my problem is a corrupt tcp ip stack? I'm unfamiliar with this but after searching it appears that this may be my problem. Because i'm online now but my dsl icon says i'm not online and it says can't find server when i type in my ip address. I typed in a couple of others that i found in search and nothing worked. So the question I pose is how do I uninstall and reinstall tcp ip stack in Windows 98 Second Edition? I found some things by doing a search but I'm a little uncomfortable since I am a computer novice. Is there a program that can automatically fix this problem? I saw one for xp but didn't find one for 98se. If there isn't a program I can download that will do the job can someone explain to me how uninstall and reinstall tcp ip stack in Windows 98 Second Edition. Is there a certain driver I'm going to need once I reinstall? Do I need to back up anything? Any danger in this? I'm currently online so once I uninstall does that mean I'll be disconnected until I reinstall? Thanks

Goto Control Panel > Networks. Remove the TCP/IP protocol. Reboot. You will get a message the the network is not complete. Ignore it. Make a note of any TCP/IP settings. It will probably be set to obtain IP address automatically.
When Windows Restart go back to Control Panel Networks and Re-install TCP/IP. Add > Protocol > Add > Microsoft > TCP/IP. You may want to Check the settings and re-install File and Print Sharing. Re-boot and everything should be fixed. It may ask you for the Win 98 CD.
Stuart
