i have compaq presino,and registry keeps crashing,formated several time then when i turn on pc after hours of not being on,registry problem still there

What do you mean by "registry keeps crashing"? Have you scaned your system for a virus. That is what I suspect. If not that, I'd say your hdd is going bad. Give us some more details about errors or what not. One other thing....I wouldn't buy a compaq next time you get a computer.

JJ is correct...need more specific info. After that, you can use a program that runs in MS-DOS mode that will restore a Registry copy. Program is "Scanreg" with the following syntax: Scanreg/restore
This will let you choose one of 5 (default) Registries that copies were made over the last five days. It will also tell you if any of those 5 were valid/used by the system.
Get us some more info.

i have a problem too my hdd says invalid media type and ive ran the write zeros to drive 2 times and it doesnt work is and some body told me it is a registry problem

I CANT HEAR ANYTHING!!! its been going on for too long now! i can't take it!! First the volume control icon at the bottom right corner on task bar near clock DISAPEARED!! and can hear any sounds! when i go to find files and folders and type in sndvol.32 or even volume control all that comes up is just volume control short cut. and it wont open!! grrr i take take it anymore!! HELP!
