Registry error

I have an old Acer laptop running Win95 after boot up I get a messege box "Windows has encountered an error accessing the systens registry" it give me the option to "restore from backup and restart" I do it and nothing changes

if you have access to a win98 PC you could get scanreg.exe (scanreg /opt /fix) or reboot to dos and type regedit /? for restore options. or you could try using regedit to export the registry and then re-import it (vvveeerrryyyy long shot) alternativly I have fixed this problem by reinstalling windows over the top of an instalation (on 98) this recreates the registery but keeps all you settings..

You might also want to run scandisk 'thorough' on your hard drive.
