Registering obsolete software

Omnipage by Caere

Back when, I bought Omnipage 8 by Caere and loaded it on to a hard drive. That hard drive stopped dead about five yers ago, and didn't use it all that often either.

I loaded up the version 8 once again on to another computer and hard drive about five months ago. Worked OK then. However, upon loading it up, there was message to set in a code number, which I got off the shipping carton and it worked again. Said after this that I only had an evaluation copy, good only for X trys. If I got this note in error, then telephone a certain number or go on-line to: some web site and straighten out everything.

The telephone number for Caere comes up with bad data, and the web site for Caere does not work anymore. Not surprizing considering how long I have had this software. But how do I go about making it work for more than a couple times. I presume that I have to register it once more. But how? or is that the way again.

I sure don't want to purchase another example for only have a small book to reduce, and then may not use it again for 1/2 year.

Looks like Caere is now owned by this company. Maybe you can get somewhere by contacting them. Are you sure you entered the correct key when you reinstalled. I have used obsolete software and it still worked OK. http://www.nuance.com/omnipage/
