Unless you've copied all of the .cab and other vital files onto your hard drive from the W98 install CD, you won`t get very far with just the hard drive alone.

Do you at least have a CD ROM and/or floppy drive you aren`t telling us about? Technically, you could do it all off of the CD, if a CD ROM and motherboard support CD boot(I`ve never utilized, so I don`t know if both have to comply). The Win98 CD does have a copy of format in the WIN98 directory.

Yech. Misread as "nothing but the hard drive". My bad.

You should be able to get by with the original W98 boot floppy. If you don`t have one, you can download one from
http://www.bootdisk.com

Sorry for the confusion.

Anyway, instructions as follows, after you boot from the W98 boot disk:

Once you see A:\>_, type FORMAT C: (does not have to be in caps, everything in full caps is what you type), it will prompt you with a warning. type Y and press enter. It may take a little while, since you do have a moderately large drive.

From there, type the cd rom drive letter followed by :(probably D: or such), enter, and type SETUP . You should be on your way from there.

You will need the Product Code for the CD.

you should get all the drivers you will need for all the hardware you have in your computer also. You can download a driver collector program from www.mesich.com
You should also download advisor.exe from belarc.com so you will have the info. I.E. serial#, hardware, etc.
