Hi,
I was planning to give my computer to one of my friends. He is a computer wiz. I dont want him to snoop around in my hard drive to look for personal stuff that i had deleted. I dont want to loose any of my programs and other cool stuff on the computer. How can i reformat without loosing the stuff i have saved. I am using windows 95 operating system. I would be helpful if you could give me step by step instruction on how to reformat my hard drive without loosing the cool stuff.

thanks.

Hi,

You don't need to format. Just fill up your hard drive with any files. For example, copy something from CDs you have to fill all available space on your hard drive. Then delete this files. That way you will overwrite all deleted information which still can be on your hard drive and it'll become unrecoverable.

Good luck, Igor M

I keep on having illegal operations with some of the programs for example Netscape 6.0, icq2000, iexplore, explorer, and can't recall any others at the moment. Should I reformat my hard drive and I was never given the windows 98 cd. I went out and got Windows 98 second editions does this matter? and how do I reformat. Thank you.
