my recovery disk isnt recognizing my pc
as the right one for the disk. when the recovery process attemps to start it gives error saying this cd is for pavilion pc only.
and yes this is the correct recovery cd for
this computer, never had this kind of problem before. can someone plz help? thnx

You can’t use your recovery CD if you installed a CDROM BURNER after you bought your computer. Uninstalled CD BURNER. Make sure the other CDROM is configured properly (Jumpers/cables). Try again.
Please post back to let us know what happens
Robert

it came with a cd-burner installed, also it has a plain cd-rom too. i just dont see what could have chnged to make this happen.now i cant reinstall windows if i need too. someone plz help. ps. it does the same thing in both cd players

First unplug everything from back of your PC. Just leave mouse, keyboard, and video and try again.
In previous recoveries: did you have to install the software for your CD BURNER SEPARATELY? If you did uninstalled CD BURNER.
What kind of computer is this?
Post back we’re here to help you!
Robert

actually yes, i had to find the zip file
that contained the cd burner software and install it like that, but its suppose to install it when recovery is done, for some reason it dont though.my friend has got the same exact computer and he doesnt have to do that. btw its a HP pavilion 8565c model. oh and thnx for trying to help me robert ,greatly appreciated

Did you try again with the Recovery Disk?
What happened? Any luck?Tell us what you've done.
Don't forget to clean Recovery CD. If is dirty it won't let you install.
Robert

ok, uninstalled cd burner software and rebooted, still same thing. also unplugged everything except mouse keyboard and video,
cd is spotless. i also have a application recovery cd as well, but is also recognized as wrong pavilion, so im stuck still, i just dont kno what else to try...

I don't know about HP, but some PC makers put a windows install forlder on the hard drive. It's usually a CABs folder and sometimes c:\windows\options\cabs. If it's there, it should have a `setup' file that starts the install.

Nothing seems to work!
Some computers need a boot disk (floppy)to initialize the full recovery. This boot disk is done using the Recovery Disks.
If that is your case look for a file calle "Make boot disk" or something like that on the Recovery Disk. You have to have a working PC to do this boot disk.Last....you said you have a friend who owns same model of pc. ask him to lend you his Recovery disk(s) and use it\them.
Last question: Did you change video card on this PC?
Don't worry we'll make your PC work.

yes i did add a vid card, but its not in here now, in fact ive done a few recoverys with it still in there, no this pc doesnt require a floppy to recover, also my friend
restorred my hard drive for me using his computer, thats the only reason its werking at all now hehe. also i got 2 sets of recovery cd s. they sent me a new set one time while back while it was still under warranty. ive seen this problem on a gateway pc that a friend at werk had. i think they sent theirs off to get it fixed, i cant do that.

Try your friend’s Recovery Disk.
Put Recovery CD ON CD TRAY, shut down machine completely then turn it on.Could you tell us why you want to do a full restore?
Do you have a problem with the hard drive?
Any other problem with your PC?Robert

nothing really wrong at this time, just trying to get it too accept my recovery cd.
oh, and i did find the installer in the windows/options/cabs folder. theres also a
installer named "oemrunonce" scared to tinker with it much though, afraid i will corrupt my pc without being able to restore it hehe. thnx for ur help guys and il check back here often to see if anything new comes up on this issue. if anybody finds anything plz send me an e mail or something k thnx again

..."also my friend restored my hard drive for me using his computer"...
That might be the reason why your Restore CD does not work.
The components of your friend's PC may not be exactly the same as yours. Maybe you can place the hard drive back in your friend's computer and try either his or your recovery CD and see what happens.

have you changed yor cdrom ide cable? chek the cable and make sure the cdrom cable is marked master on the cable,, hp;s do that make sure it is on the cdrom not on slave end of cable ,,, change yor cdrom jumper to CS,,

several things are strange here, il list a few here now, first my recovery cd didnt werk before my friend dumped my hard drive for me, second in the device manager its showing 2 or 3 monitors, default monitor, plug and play monitor and or nec fe700, which is correct, third thing is under system devices i just had to delete ACPI IRQ steering, which was listed 4 times, other times ive had motherboard resources list 2 or 3 times ,which isnt correct at all, personally i think this pc has either a motherboard problem and or a virus which i thought would be corrected doing a full reformat and install of the OS. also one other thing this isnt the original hard drive, i replaced it months ago with no problrems, the hard disk is connected to primary slave cable, even when connecting it to primary master it detects it primary slave, so i put the slave cable on it, i think maybe my mobo is screwing up , not sure

For starters, in Safe Mode, get rid of the excess 'baggage'.
Remove everything under Monitors, reboot, and the PC should identify the one installed.
Would do the same thing with any other 'excess' entries.

On the ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering, making changes in hardware may render the IRQ holder as no longer required, and the System Information tool may display the obsolete entries.
Go to Start>Run, and enter the following: MSInfo32
In the System Information Tool, look at troubled devices in the PC by double clicking Components to expand it, and then double clicking Problem Devices.
On the hard drive, how is it jumpered?
BTW, what brand PC is this? HP Pavillion? If so, what model number?

pavilion 8565c, hard drive is set to master on, slave off, however it want werk hooked to the master cable, its on the slave cable,
on the master cable the computer doesnt detect it at all, but it will on the original hard drive, but its toast, so i cant use it. think i should cgnhe the jumpers and see what happens?

let me rephrase the above, even with the hard drive hooked to master cable it still detects it under slave in the bios, so i just put the slave cable on it...
