My sound card works only to play sound. When I try to record sounds using Sound Recorder Or other recording programs all I get is a silent file. I have tried both line in and the microphone jack. Here is my sound card specs: It is a CMI738 Sound Card. I am using a C-Media CM8738 driver(Version: 4.06.1096)

Open up your multimedia properties and go to the volume controls, make sure that none of the 'mute' boxes are checked, and make sure that the volume is turned up on your microphone and your line in.

I have turned both the line in and microphone jack all the way up. And when I turned the cd player's volume up all I get is Pops and crackles. I tried plugging it in my rear speaker jack and it now comes through my speakers. But I can't find any way to record from the Rear Speaker Jack. I would appreciate any help :-O
