My computer displays this message and will not boot up.What could be the problem? Could a remote server invoke this command via phone line? If so, how can I correct the problem? I am presently running a 98 O/S. I am not a IT specialist!

Your network card is trying to control your boot-up procedure. Take the first choice, and disable this. Your might have to enter your BIOS and disable "wake on LAN", which will make a computer come to life by means of a remote command from a network. Neither of these is exactly the default condition, normally. I don't know why they would suddenly appear, unless your took home a work computer, or bought one surplus.

good suggestions chris! but if that doesn't work Marilyn, try this:
boot up and hold down CTRL, go to "command prompt only" press enterthis will take you to a c: prompt
type the following
edit autoexec.bat
will take you to a blue screen with words all over it :)
delete the line with anything mentioning "realtek"
hit ALT + F, press "s" hit ALT + F hit x
this will take you back to dos type the following:
edit config.sys
locate anything that 'may' have something about realtek. you may not find anything but it's worth a look in here :) delete anything referring to it and do the ALT + F s ALT + F x and reboot the computer. does this stop the realtek from coming up?
