Hey everyone,
When it comes to reading CDRW's in a standard CD-Rom drive, what's the deal?
Is it possible, does the RW need to be finished in a certain way? Does particular software need loaded on the workstation with the standard CD-Rom drive?
The PC's I'm trying to read the RW in are all new Dell's, the CDRW was burned in a newer Dell with Adaptec v5.
Thanks,
Troy

Is the CD-ROM drive classified "Multi-Read"? It needs to be to read CD-RW disks. Multi-read drives have been common for years now, but there may still be some drives for sale that aren't.
Is the disk session closed? You can't read open sessions in a non-writable drive.
This info is from the Adaptec Help files. You did read the Help files, right? Here is a relevent quote from Help:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When to Use CD-RW:
CD-RW media can only be used in CD-ReWritable drives or newer MultiRead CD-ROMs. You cannot play CD-RW in most home or car stereo CD players. Here are some ideas for using CD-RW media:
Use when you need to erase the data and re-write new information (for example, updating files)
Use to make a practice CD or to test the contents of a CD before making a permanent one
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blank CDs are about 50-cents, with cases. Why not just use CD-R disks instead of CD-RW? If you need the functions of a RW drive (recording, reading CD-RW disks, using DirectCD, etc.) why not upgrade to CD-RW drives? They are invaluable and the price difference is minimal.
Best Luck,
Bob

are you using UDF format? if so you may need to load the UDF reader on the pc you want to read the disks in.
