Hello all, just a quick message to see if anyone can help... My computer crashed on the internet the other day and seems to have corrupted the history folder (IE5 and Win95). Now, whenever Windows or IE tries to write to the folder my system hangs. I have tried clearing the history but no luck, I have also tried to delete today's history in DOS but I cannot find it (Windows Explorer displays todays history as being in 'C:\windows\history\today' but this is not true as the directory 'today' does not exist in DOS... Can anyone help?

I use an old DOS program called dosshell speciffically for this purpose. It came with DOS 6.2 It displays trees just like Explorer, very simple to navigate and find & delete files. First, I clear the history and Temporary Internet Files by going to Tools>Options in IE5 Then I navigate to C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files in Explorer and delete every folder under the Content.IE5 folder Now choose restart, hit F8 and choose command prompt only. Navigate to C:\windows\tempor~1 and delete all files especially index.dat, then go the the content.ie5 folder and do the same. Navigate to c:\windows\history and delete index.dat Go to any subfolder (MSHIST001) and delete index.dat there also and finally delete all the folders under the history folder named MSHIST*** This is really the only way to effectively delete your history. reghakr
