I am reinstalling windows 95 c version on my 350 amd and for some reason I can't get the Active Desktop to appear. It was there on start up last time I installed and I can't think of anything I'm doing differently. I really like the I.E. type windows that open so you can use the buttons to go back and forth. Any ideas on what the variable I'm overlooking is?
thanks,
Mal

For the active desktop you need MS Internet Explorer 4. It has no longer available by microsoft... but if you look hard enough there are still places on the web where you can download the full IE4. Windows95 itself does NOT contain the active desktop.

My copy, "Windows 95 C" does include explorer 4!!. It does for sure because I loaded it a least twice before and got the active desktop and clicking I.E. properties showed Explorer 4. It has worked from this cd, I know because it is the only one I have ever owned. I just need to find out if maybe it is a certain component I need to add or leave out like "Windows Messaging" or "FAX" or something. Anyone with Win 95 C ever have similer problems?

Right click on any blank spot of your desktop and see if the option for Active Desktop is available. If not move down to Properties and then choose the Web tab. Make sure that the box for View my Active Desktop as a web page is checked.
