I am running windows 98 on a pentiumII (celeron) @ 333MHZ with 160 plus MB of RAM. My problem is that it seems as I use programs, pages etc... that require RAM.. my total resource is tapped and never returned to me. Is there a way to return unused RAM resources to my system without having to reboot all of the time?? My email is Blondarling@Yahoo.com... thanks...

try this freeware utility called maxmem by Analogx, you can download it here.It's a small program, only a couple hundred k.

While some of your memory will be restored after using/exiting programs, Win98 will not fully restore your "resource RAM". Even the good folks at MS have published documents regarding this (and will tell you to reboot from time to time). With 160MB +, though, Windows does a little less swapping, thus improving performance. Do a little searching on the net for more info.

What types of errors are you getting that are causing you to reboot?
And are you talking available memory or System Resource Percentage?

I have to apologize to the author of the below mentioned (alledgedly good) tweak because I did not record the authors name.
"Heres a good tweak for all,enjoy.
First open up your notepad,type this in.
FreeMem=Space(24000000)save it as:(type this) FREEMEM.VBS
NOW PUT IT ON DESKTOP.When ever you double click the vscript icon you will free up 24 megs of ram.
Do it just before game playing etc.This replaces those ramcache software enhancers out there but uses no cpu resources.(If you want to free up more change it(24 to 35 ie.)
DONT PUT IT TO HIGH AND CHECK YOUR RAM USAGE WITH SYSMON."
