I recently got my mother board changed because the old one wasn't working. The new one is a ASUS socket A VIA KT133 SDRAM AGP pro ATA 100(Im not completly sure if thats the right model, but thats what the box says).
When I start up windows the Physical memory usage is 75-85% and if I start playing any game the memory usage will soon be 100% and the whole computer halts and I have to press the reset button(Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work). I use a program called ASUS probe to read the percent value.
The games that make my computer halt worked fine when I still used my old motherboard.

Have you set your virtual memory to zero or 'Let Windows manage memory'?

Program called MPower might help or
Cacheman from www.outertech.com has a RAM RECOVERY feature.

Go to a command prompt and type in 'mem /c'
this will allow you to see if your system is recognizing the installed memory properly. If its not try uninstalling the ram modules then reinstalling them. It's rare but some MB need the largest ram module to be placed in the #1 slot... just a thought.
