There's a free program called "cacheman" that is pretty good. I copied this from the help file:

Welcome to Cacheman 2.5

The biggest fault of Windows 95 is the disk cache management
strategy. It takes up almost all of the available physical memory.
When the system runs out of RAM Windows 95 starts to use virtual
memory instead of flushing the disk caches.

To change this behavior you have to edit the SYSTEM.INI file.

Cacheman is a GUI based tool used to optimize the cache settings
and change the mentioned INI file. The result is a much better system
performance on most systems, due to the reduced use of the swap file.

Cacheman is now Giftware !

Please do the decent thing and send me a gift.

This could be anything from a postcard to a registered version of a
shareware program written by you.

Hi,

If you mean L1 and L2 cache, enter BIOS setup and make sure you have "Internal Cache" and "External Cache" enabled.

Good luck, Igor M

When I enable my internal and external cache my system will not boot up. Only when they are disabled does my system boot. Any ideas?
