Question about MSCDEX.EXE and CD-ROM

Comment:
I recently reformatted y HD, and now I can't get my computer to recognize my CD-ROM drive, so I can't reinstall WIN98. I have tried to reinstall the drivers, but it says it can't find MSCDEX.exe. I copied MSCDEX.exe from the Windows startup disk to my had drive, but the drivers still can't find it.

Boot up from the W98 startup disk, and select "start up with cdrom support" (I think that is how it's worded!!)don't try to simply copy MSCDEX.exe. Your system will then load cdrom drivers and you can follow the instructions from there to reload W98
