What is ptsnoop.exe? Where does it come from? I have it on several work stations, I have removed it from the startup and have seen no ill affects of its removal. Just curious as to what it does and where it comes from.

Ptsnoop is part of the sofware that comes with modems based on the pctel 789 chip. I forget exactly, but it has something to do with keeping track of com ports. It is not a virus but seems to be unnecessary in most cases.
There has been considerable discussion on this site about it being a virus and it could very well be that a virus of the same name exists. However if you have a pctel modem it's presence on a machine is probably due to the modem and not a virus.
