I have 2 drives, Both 9.1 gig. one a ata33 one ata 66 and a Promise card. when trying to use the promise card, I have system crashes, errors, slow to no booting and problems a plenty. if I just run the 66 on the card it will boot on the 33 but very slowly. If I remove the drives off the card it goes back to normal. I would like to take advantage of the higher speed of the 66 but need the 66 controler card to do so. It was suggested tonight that the Promise may be a legacy card. I don't know how to tell. All parts are new. Any suggestions????? please.

All I knoe about using 33 and 66 harddrive is that you cannot use the 66 capablities. May be do not use the card at all if your system is working without it anyway.

From what i know of ata66 harddrives you need a separate card to use them unless yuor motherboard has it built in hence the Promise card but doesnt the at33 still plug into the ata ide connectors on the motherboard
