Go to Start>Run and type msconfig. Select OK. Select the StartUp Tab. If the 2 items are in there then uncheck them. Post back with the programs you deleted.
Back in the days of DOS, most applications were a single program. Deleting that program was no big deal. But with Windows, a single application may include a dozen or more program files, many of them shared with other applications. Removing applications with the "Add/Remove" function of the 'Control Panel' is usually safe as it takes this sharing into account. But indescriminate deletion of programs is not recommended.
Web sites you visit will dump tons of junk onto your disk. It is a noble thought to try to eleminate unneeded files. But it is like shoveling [you know what] against the tide. A barebones install of Win98 requires some 200 Mb of disk space. 6 months later it is over a Gb!
