I would check to see what version of flash I have,do and update check for it and directX. I would also do a Scan disk of my system, and than I might uninstall and reinstall the programs not functioning.

Are these the only two programs not responding, or is it the same with all programs?

If a shortcut is used to open the program, verify that it points to the correct file.

Try turning off the antivirus program.

Disable as many of the programs that load at startup as possible and then restart the computer. Then, try running the application again. If that doesn't help, try running the application in Safe Mode. If the program does not work in Safe Mode, try uninstalling and reinstalling it.If it works in Safe Mode, the program itself is probably OK, and the problem may caused by a conflict with something loading at startup.

To this effect, suggest one of the following:

-Click Start>Run, enter: msinfo32 (or msinfo (whatever works)) The Microsoft System Information window appears.
-In the left side pane, click on the (+) of Software Environment to expand it, and then select Startup Programs. A list of all these appears on the right side pane.
-On the menu bar, click: Edit>Select All to highlight the entries on the right pane, and then click: Edit>Copy.

or, better yet,

Download StartUpList from www.spywareinfo.com. Extract it, double click on it, and it will generate a text file (NotePad) listing items loaded when Windows starts. To copy, go to Edit on the menu bar, and click on: Select All. After all the entries are highlighted, go back to Edit>Copy.

Whichever option is chosen, paste the copied text on this post to check out if there is something lurking in the background causing the problem.

OK well I tryed the Safe Mode thing and the programs worked but not the chess rally 2 because it needed more video and size stuff so I think it would work. Umm YES I have the flash player and that has nothing to do with it. But I forget to say this last time but when try to start chess rally and it don't work, later on my screen turns blue with an error message saying something about system busy. And this is all the stuff I'm running and startup http://mikeyflan.homestead.com/files/startup.bmp

An entry in the Startup list needs checking into:
Program Name: "sp" or "sps"
Executable Name: regedit-s .... sp.dll
Required: NO!! Virus, spyware
Comments: Malicious javascript which installs a file called
sp.dll in the Windows directory, and puts "regedit -s
c:\windows\sp.dll" in the startup Run command lines of the registry to restore the settings if deleted.

Look into the following website for information, and a link on how to get rid of it:

http://www.lafn.org/webconnect/mentor/startup/PENINDEX.HTM

There are other items on the list that are not requiredat Startup. The following website, as well as the one above, can provide info for you to make a decision:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm

When finished identifying what to keep and what to dump, uncheck any item that is not necessary or undesirable using the System Configuration Utility (run: msconfig). Reboot.

See if the problem stil remains. Post back.

Also, it is also a good idea to do an updated antivirus scan. There is a good online scanner here:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/

The Trend Micro website also has an online scanner called HouseCall. It is located here:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

For further upkeep, consider installing AdAware, and also Spybot. They are tools to get rid of voluminous amount of adware, spyware and foistware going around these days.

If you have ruled out a problem with other programs loading at Startup, then you may need to look at troubleshooting Flash MX itself.

The Flash MX support forum may be a good one for starters:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/forums/

Good luck.
