Program.exe?? What a thoughtful name for a program!!
OK, do you remember what's it for? Like use on the net, play games, etc.

I HAVE YOUR FILE.....
I WANT 2 BILLION POUNDS......
FAILURE TO MEET THESE DEMANDS WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION OF YOUR LITTLE program.exe
HA HA HA HA
It's not a windows file so just get it back from where it came from. If you don't know that then it's obviously not a very important file

Hmm, I may be completely wrong here, but the same thing's happened to me and this is what I think the problem is...
Windows gets more than a little confused at times. A lot of the programs it tries to run are in a directory called "C:\Program Files", but sometimes it doesn't realise that the space in the middle is part of the name. So, if it knows it has to load
C:\Program Files\Something\Something.exe
...it may well interpret this as "run the file called "C:\Program" and then use it to load "Files\Something\Something.exe".
But, joy of joys, Windows is really DOS! So, instead of looking in "Program Files" you can make it look in "Progra~1", which is exactly the same directory, just minus its lovely long name. (Right click on the "Program Files" directory and choose "Properties" to check; the name might be a bit different on a different machine.)
Now find out what type of file couldn't load program.exe (right click on it and then use the Properties option again), and in any directory window choose View on the menu bar, then Options, then File Types. Find the file type in the list, click Edit, select whatever the default action is (probably "Open") and then Edit again. If the box says something about C:\Program Files change it to C:\Progra~1, close all the windows and maybe - just maybe - everything will be fine.
Whew.

This could be related to MS Office.
If you are running MS Office then remove it from your system and reinstall it.Benno.
