Program keeps writing

Recently my computer has slowed down and keeps writing data to disk. When I run scandisk, it restarts > 10 times with the message that some program is writing to disk. Ctr-Alt-Del shows the following programs writing : Explorer, Systray, Rnaapp and that's all. Any ideas what could be causing it ?
