Currently I have a Pentium processor. I am buying a new computer and I have to pick between a Celeron Processor and a Pentium. I do not know the difference between them. I need someone to verify the difference in them if there is any at all.

the celeron is the less powerful of the intel cpu's. it's cheaper than the p3 and p4 and has a smaller cache. for most home purposes it is good value and performs well and it can be overclocked though by how much depends on the motherboard.

the celeron's core processor is either a PII or PIII depending on its version. the only difference between it and Pentium is its packaging format. It uses a less expensive cartridge, PGA 370 socket or FC-PGA. they range from 266MHz to 600MHz.

Angel's response is incorrect. There are several differences other then the socket. For one, there is no L2 cache.

Go with AMD. They're cheaper and a whole lot better.
