I have been looking at the Evergreen Tech Performa 1 GHz processor upgrade and I'm looking for advice, please. I am running a box built system with: Celeron 333 MHz CPU Award BIOS FIC KA-6100 motherboard (Slot 1) FSB 66 MHz, (which I can adjust to 100 MHz according to the motherboard user manual) 192 Mb RAM 250 watt power supply 2 hard drives (1.3 G and 6.4 G) 1 CD drive 8X Windows 98SE
I'm not sure if this would be a wise investment and would really work (easily) with my system, even though Evergreen Tach. says it's compatible. Thanks for the help -

check around for motherboard with processor upgrades, these can usually be found for under $300 ,for a 1ghz processor with motherboard. and with ram as cheap as it is these days. check http://www.pricewatch.com for best prices. this would be an improvement over the evergreen.for nearly the same price.

I hope this helps. With a slot 1 you should be able to upgrade to a PIII 1 GHz if you have a 100MHz FSB motherboard. Find out if the BIOS on your board is flashable. Just make sure of the specs. If so,Just Flash the BIOS and you will be able to cruise at 1GHz with your present motherboard. Be very carefull when you do a BIOS flash. You can render your motherboard unusable if it's not done right. Find some good resources if you've never done one. Good luck.
Summary: I have a pentium 2 400mhz. I want to know what are my processor upgrade options are. Can I go for a p4 1-2gz.My cpu supports 400 mhz or faster. Thanks ...
Summary: Depends on your motherboard as well.. a simple processor upgrade is as simple as placing the new chip inside the mobo. However as it is running a 200mhz chip it is probably a very old computer. It mig...
