Is there a program to test to see if my memory is working proper?

I keep getting errors after a few hours on my PC saying I am running out of memory and it wont let me open any programs as I aint got enough memory. When I reboot everything is ok again. I have checked my memory but I have plenty to keep programs running and that.

I do a scan disk every other day and I also get an error coming up saying its not showing me the right memory. It fixes it and I have less than what is originally shown.

What could the problem be? I checked for viruses and spyware but nothing is coming up.

Use Docmem to check your RAM.

Doc memory tester

Run scandisk 'thorough' to check your hard drive.

IF you are happy inside the box then try taking out the RAM sticks and putting them back in a few times. Often oxide on the edge connectors can cause problems which this usually clears.

You might be able to prove something by running with some RAM missing or by swapping sticks, although memory tester in #1 should find problems.

Out of memory errors on Win9x are almost always related to running out of System Resources, which is caused by having too many programs running at startup.

I've known WhitPhil long enough on here to say run with his post before considering anything else, including mine.

Nice to see WhitPhil is still lurking in the corners of the board. ;>) He keeps us on our toes.

It's a good day when you learn something
