Problems with display

Having recently reinstalled WIN98SE onto my old laptop, I am having trouble with my display. The properties only allow me to set the monitor to 16 colours, with a screen res of 640x480. The card is a "Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)" which I have been unable to locate a generic driver for. The computer thinks the card is working correctly in device manager and I have checked msconfig for the 16 colour/640x480 tab which is not ticked.

Standard VGA isn't the actual graphics chipset in your laptop. That is the mode that Windows is running the chipet in due to the lack of the proper driver. With laptop computers your best source for the drivers would probably be the manufacturer's website. If you are unsure of exactly what you are looking for try downloading Everest Home Edition to get additional specs on the machine. If you can't find the correct drivers for the laptop at the manufacturer's site, post back.
