Help me please!

I'm having some serious problems with the AOL Instant Messenger that I've downloaded to my computer a while ago. Where should I start... well, almost every time I log in to Instant Messenger the program fails to open itself properly and it somehow 'throws' me to a a blue screen which basically tells me that there's been a problem with connecting to IM and that I should continue by pressing any key (and if this fails by pressing Ctrl+Alt+ Del). After pressing 'any key' everyting seems to get back to normal but if and when I'd like to open any of the programs after this (e.g. Netscape Communicator or F-Secure SSH which I use for my email correspondence) my computer refuses to function at all! And this isn't all, if I want to switch off my computer after all this the closing process begins normally but for some reason jams up in the Windows shutting down screen! I have Win95 and I never had any problems with the old version of AOL IM which I used for several years. So, if someone would so kind as to assist me with this unfortunate dilemma I'd be ever so grateful.

Thank you,

best wishes, Tia-Riikka Laine

Uninstall AIM and run the system for a while to see if you have the same problem. If not, reinstall AIM and see if the problems recurs.

I've already uninstalled AIM once and after that all programs ran properly without any problems. Then I reinstalled AIM and the same 'blue screen' dilemma occured again. I have no idea what could cause all this, but if you could give me some hints I'd be AGAIN most grateful!

best regards, Tia

I have the same problem; is your blue error screen something like:
exception 0(that's an 0 with a dot in it)E 0028:C001B9DA in VXD IFSMGR(01) +000038FE
0028:C1D5FE14 in VXD PPPMAC(01) +00004610
I have uninstalled IM, Netscape Communicator 4.7, cleaned out my registry, everything. I've spent countless (sleepless!!) hours, scanning disk, defragging, talking with my computer guru, etc. I'm trying to find Netscape AOL IM version 2, to no avail...
Has anyone been able to solve your problem?

I also have the same blue screen problem, but it only occurs here at home where I'm connected via modem. At school, where I'm hooked up to a network, I have no problems. Any miracle cures would be much appreciated!
