Hello. This is my first attempt at getting help from a tech forum, so here it goes.
I recently bought an Aopen Ax59 pro motherboard with a 350 AMD processor and added a 64 meg stick of 100mgz dram. I have yet to get the system to boot my win 95 ORS2. I read through all the suggestions I found posted here, tried all manner of cpu settings and bus speed combinations I could, but nothing.I downloaded a fix from MS or AMD and disabled the external cache, but nothing. The dram I bought off the www.stupidcomputers.com sight is supposedly guarenteed 100mgz. And I thought I'd left behind all the diddly tech problems I ran into while piecing together a 486 system as a novice. Woeboy. Any help is appreciated. Mal.

You must be more specific. At what point does it stop booting? Do you get anything at all on the screen? Do you get any beep codes?

What exactly is the problem... I know you can't get win95-b to load, but what else??? Are there beeps or error messages???
Can you make it to the "splash" screen... You know the color picture that says "Starting windows 95"... I should be able to help you considering I've got almost the exact same system:
AX59pro, 350AMDk62, 96mb PC-100 ram, Win95-b.

Here are the first 2 things that come to mind... First make sure everything is snugly plugged in on the motherboard (which I'm sure you've done) and just to make sure -Win95-b has a problem with AMD processors beyond a certain speed (I think it starts with 350mhz) and you when trying to load windows you can have one of 3 error messages pop up. I had this problem and had to get a fix... I've still got it if you need (though you probably already downloaded it). You shouldn't have to disable the external cache since I haven't had to... Let me know just a little more info... I've been trying to keep my beast going for around 7 months now and should be able to help.

Just came up with this one... When I first got my mainboard I was using the banks of mem for EDO-Ram... Then I upgraded to 2 sticks of 32mb pc-100 (keeping the EDO) it worked fine for me (my total ram was 80mb)... but then I added one more stick of 32mb pc100 (making my total 112mb) -- but it didn't work... I couldn't load windows cause it would just sit at the splash screen... After removing the EDO ram though it loaded fine... There was also something about putting the ram in the right location... You've got 1 stick of 64mb right???...
Where is the stick placed and is this stick single sided or double sided... Here's a little help...
First you can tell if it's single or double by looking at the "bulge" of chips on the ram, if the ram is "flat" on one side (no "mem-chips" on the one side) then it's single, but if the ram is "uniform" with the black chips on both sides then it's double sided... Also, here is how they should be put in...

Looking at the motherboard that your look from down to up... the first item you should come across will be the processor.. then..
Slot 1 for SDRAM = Single or Double
Slot 2 for SDRAM = Single or Double
Slot 3 for SDRAM = Single sided ram only
Slot 4 for EDO-RAM = Not sure
Slot 5 for EDO-RAM = Not sure

I also had trouble when I had put my first stick in slot 3 and then added a second, putting it in slot 2... It wouldn't register all my ram... Putting my ram into Slot 1 and 2 fixed that though... Sorry this got so long, and I hope you can find some info in here a little helpful... If this doesn't help let me know... I've got tons more. Also, If you can get your computer working using my suggestions, then please let me know so that I can help others when the same problem comes across again... If I don't know I've helped... I don't know if I'm right or wrong. Thanks. Sorry agian it's so long. Good Luck.
