Comment:

I have a presario laptop with 433 mhz and 64mb ram and 10gb.
It runs on factory installed windows98, and a linux partition.
I want to upgrade to windows xp only or windows 2000.
i started managed to install xp, and then i decided to reinstall it, and delete the linux partions. Problem now is that my machine will not startup anymore. it tries to start xp, and freezes. could i have deleted a wrong partition?, what can i do to reset everything and put a fresh windows OS on the computer, without any other partitions?

Download and run DelPart. It will delete all partitions. XP should repartition the drive when you run the install.

The boot disk I created says "NTLDR is missing. Press any key to restart".
Did I not create this properly?
Any help is really appreciated.

Do not bother trying to instal XP until you can get more RAM. It NEEDS minimum 128mb just to run its own services. Even with 128 it would still be sloooow. Once you get past that issue then go into BIOS, set your CD-ROM as first boot device and boot up using your XP instal disk. It has format capability built in. If you have other issues with NTLDR Missing there are dozens of previous posts on the issue. Use the site search facility and you'll find the answer(s).

hi

I am trying to upgrade my old desktop,by doing a clean install of windows xp. During my boot process, the system sees all the disks. My CD-Drive is not a booting drive. so i made a boot disks for the xp. When it boots and during setup, when it looks for a drive to load the OS in. Is comes up and says no harddrive found. But through a normal boot process i see my drive, boot from them and everything is fine. I even bought a new formatted drive, still the same error. The Current OS is ME. If you guys have any idea of suggestions to this problem. Please let me know.

Thank you
