hi i am trying to put together an old at&t/ncr globalyst 363tpc machine. everything is perfect until the moment when i try to install windows. sometimes right after scandisk, sometimes during the installation an error message appears - a serious disk problem has occurred while trying to write on fixed disk c. i found out an article that this was caused by the fixed disk write feature, which had to be set to normal, not to write protect. well, it doesn't work. i still get that message. i tried various bios configurations, checked 1001 websites and nothing. i also tried 3-4 different hard drives, tried win95, win98, tried different memory configurations. do you have any idea what could solve this. i am going crazy. the machine was working fine with windows 3.1 beforehand. i just tried after formatting with fat16 - same s..t!!! please help

Do you have a virus protect option enabled in the Bios. That can cause problems during an install.
