The first disk should be a 'regular' 1.44Mb - the rest should be ok formatted in DMF with a cluster size of 2048, if that's any help.

yeah, the first and last disks are regular and the rest are formated to 1.63mb 2048 clusters. i begin installation and it does ask for and read disk 2 but when it does time to choose the type of installastion, it comes up with a disk read error, please make sure disk is in drive and the door is closed. the second to 12 disks only has cab files. mostly one but a few might have 2. could they be from the cd? i bought them off a friend and copied to my own disks so i have no information on them and nither does he. got any ideas? thanks.

Sounds like bad disks or bad copies.

Might try scanning the disk(s) in a Win9x machine - older DOS has trouble reading DMF.

Possibly you might try copying the diskettes to a folder on the HDD and try to install that way, although you'd likely need to run a 'driver' like SMAX in order for your version of DOS to read DMF

That's the original floppy installation set - later versions of Windows were considerably larger - and kept growing.

Is this a continuation of 160033 or a new one?

Were your disks made from the cd or the original floppies?

As jboy says, suspect bad disks or bad copies. Or maybe your floppy drive is having a problem reading the non-standard disk.

I have the files available for upload as I indicated in the thread I referenced above.

well i ran some disks through scandisk on a win 3.1 machine. later i ran each one through error checking on a xp machine. now some, mainly regular formated, came through fine. but all the DMF came up with a bunch of bad clusters. and the DMF formated disks, which says 2048 clusters, only showed 800 or so. but the regular formated ones said 2048. now i ran them again in xp and only disks 2 and 10 could not complete error checking. plus i started copying them to my hard drive just in case, and those were the only 2 not letting me. so can someone email me disks 2 and 10 please? thank you in advance.
