Specs: Macintosh
Hello everybody,

I have a serious problem on my Gateway G6-350 ( PII 350 Mhz, 64 Mb of RAM) : In fact, I changed the resolution settings for a s#!p!d game that my brother wanted to play. Then, the computer just turned off. I went on safe mode, but there was only the choices : 2 colors, and 16 colors. I formatted the computer, then reinstalled the computer's software, Windows 98.Everything went well, except that when it "first" started windows 98, it was on 16 colors! I went in settings, but there was only the choices 2 and 16 colors. And to top it all, I cannot find the name of the video card. If you could help me it could be nice, Thank you.

The system did NOT need to be re-formated. All you had to do was re-install the video drivers.

You still have the same problem - no video drivers. But I'm sure that's not the only driver you're lacking. The Windows disk loads generic drivers that offer basic functionality. It's up to you to locate, download & install the most recent drivers available. You'll need drivers for the motherboard chipset, video, sound, network, possibly others. You should have recorded all that info BEFORE you formated. It's not going to be easy to find what you need due to the age of the system. Hopefully you have good Googling skills.

Post the part number of the video card. Gateway still has drivers for peripheral devices on their websites.

Older Gateway systems have a 7-digit part number; pre-1998 they usually have a 13-digit alpha-numeric part number.
