Problem after wiping hard drive

Original Message

Subject: Problem after wiping hard drive
OS: Windows95
CPU/Ram: Pentium
Model/Manufacturer: Pionex
Comment:
I had my hard drive wiped and then decided that I needed some information about the computer. When I turned it on I got a screen with information about Co-Processor, CPU Clock, Extended Memory, Master Disks, Slave Disks, different type ports, PCI Device Listing with numbers and letters under that, Verifying DMI Pool Data. Then it said "Remove disks or other media, Press any key to restart". When I press any key to restart it just keeps giving me that same message. I've never wiped a hard drive before so I don't know if this is what happens or not. I don't think this is being explained very well but hopefully someone can tell me if there is anything I can do. I just figured I'd get a blank screen or something. Thanks for any help.

If you wiped hard drive it is blank, therefore it has nothing to boot from....

Sure - what did you expect (or hope to accomplish) from this action?

Presumably you intend to reinstall an Operating System - otherwise, you have a large & uninteresting paperweight

Sounds almost the same as "System Disk or disk error". Of course like jboy said if you erased everything then you would get that message because there is nothing to boot from.

Email if you need a 95/98 MS-DOS boot disk.

... sure - they're so hard to find online.

According to M$, that is one of the possible messages when attempting to start up with non-bootable media (just not the commonest)

"I don't think this is being explained very well"

Agreed - - although there's still time to clarify things (and that would be... nice)

I was going to give this computer away but I needed some information about it that I neglected to write down or memorize. I have a new computer is the reason for all this. I do have all the disks, etc. that came with the computer when I got it new. Thanks for the help. Jan

Seems like much ado over nothing then - it's an erased, nonbooting hard drive, and the only information it can easily render is from the POST screen or the BIOS (as one would expect)

If the drive has more than one partition, and/or depending on how it was 'wiped', information may still be on the disk (if that is a concern)
