Hi,
I have a Compaq Presario 4760, with a Compaq IJ300 Printer. Within the last couple of days, the printer has stopped working. When I try to print, I get 'Screen Released - System' come up in the alert box, an alert flashes up telling me that there is no paper in the printer. When this ordinarily happens, the alert stays until I have fed paper in, or I cancel the print. However, this time the alert only stays for about a second, and then disappears again. I have tried disabling computer to printer communications, which worked for one printout, and hasn't since - if I try that now, the Printer Control Programme says that the pages are printing, when the printer itself is doing nothing. Please help! I have a dissertation due in soon!
Thank you all
Jo

Driver could have gotten corrupted I've had this happen. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer?

try this,
turn off printer for a few minutes.
unplug power cord and data cable.
after a few minutes, hold down power button on printer while plugging in the power cord
if you get a beep right away, let go of the button. if not, let go any way. then reconnect the data cable. reboot
should fix it.
