Comment: Working on daughter's PC which is experiencing printer problems. The PC, a Compacq Deskpro 2000, printer Lexmark X83. It's one of those "Combo" printers, printer, copier, scanner and fax. Printer will printer occassionally. By that I mean it may print one time and not the next when it receives an error message indicating problem communicating with printer. Then again it may print three four times, often times several pages, and then the same error message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. Reinstalled the drivers many times as well. We are both at our witts end. My daughter needs this printer for her business. Any and all help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Reply: (edit)kjan, the computer is connected via USB, I was beginning to suspect this area as the problem. However, this particular printer can only be connected using USB. Thanks for you comment.

Reply: (edit)I have had the same problem with my X63... i ended up removing everything i could find that referenced the Lexmark then going to their site and downloading all new drivers. make sure that once you uninstall Lexmark drivers that u unplug USB from system then reboot. download new drivers and go from there. the other problem may be the compac. they are very proprietarial systems. check with the compac site to see if any problems have been reported (or call tech support for compac)
