printer problem (WIN 98)

My printer simply stops working without any messages have tried reloading printer driver loads fine but after some time simply stops doing any print jobs my operating system is windows 98 and application software is MS office incidently when the printer works word documents print slowly but excel documents print fast my printer is fine tiied the self print test is fine tried almost everything even reloading windows 98 still problem persists funny thing if i switch off the printer and try another option for printing the printer works fine like if i print my selection it fails i switch ff pri nter and try this time by print pages it works fine but the options keep changing please advise

Your assuming it is and Operating system problem without providing any detail on the printer itself. Have you gone to the support page of the Printer manufacturer for any known issues or assist. Is the memory within the printer not capable of taking the amount being sent to it?
