I am running Windows 98 with a HP 722C deskjet printer. When I try to print, I get an error message stating the computer is not responding. When I click cancel, I get the following message: there was an error writing to LPT1 for the printer (HP DeskJet 720C Series). the parameter is incorrect. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in fixing this problem.

You may need to go into cmos/bios setup and configure the printer port. It may need to be set at EPP or ECP for your printer.

Of course this only works IF the printer is plugged into the parallel port of the computer (usually biggest "D" connector).
Also look at at printer and make sure it is set to default printer(right click on printer icon or go to Printer menu in printer window) AND that it is not set to Use Offline. Go to Printer properties and make sure it is using LPT1 as the printer port.
Rule #1 Good computers don't go down. Rule #2 There is no such thing as a good computer.
