Not if you have a printer install CD.

What exactly happens when you try to install?

Try burning it onto a CD-R and "finalize" or "close session" (whatever terminology your burner software uses).

CD-RW's will not play on all drives (particularly older drives).

It sounds as if it accepted the disk this but maybe it is waiting for you to double click an .exe file or something.

Can you see the files on the CD when you look in Windows Explorer or My Computer?

If so it really depends on what they all are. You might find a readme file somewhere.

That's odd. Usually it's just a plugs and sockets issue or the printer is switched off.

Worth trying a reboot.

Hi,this printer is just not going to work
for me, Thank you for all your help,
I see on the Lexmark site that the driver for X1180 printer starts from windows 98 ?
so maybe the driver I got for 95 is not compatible with this printer, just a thought
thanks again, Bob.
