My friend has a problem with his computor and I told him I would try to help him out, I need to turn to someone with more knowlage then I have.
When you turn his computor on it says
"Primary master hard disk fail"
blah
blah
blah
"Press F1 to continue"

... so I press F1

I look at the screen and it says in CAPS
"DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

Please help me....
Eric

before throwing out the drive, make sure it is configured in the bios, or even recognized. if it is an old machine, the cmos could have failed due to an old battery. when the battery fails, the data which holds the specific machine information is lost, and the hard drive may be simply "unseen". Try checking this first! if have any other questions, feel free to contact me.

If you are lucky, it might just be that the controller chip on the back of the hard drive has come slightly loose. I had this problem only this week, but lickily enough, one of our technical guys noticed that the chip was not seated properly. It is worth a look before you spend any money on another drive!
