I have a Compaq Presario. I formated it and reloaded win 98, but now I can't get my Modem to work. MY computers a Presario 5000 series 5BW120 I tried the compaq web site but could not find the right driver.

Jason jay, Do you know what kind of modem you have? On your Desktop, right click My Computer, select Properties from the menu, and in the System Properties dialogue box, go to the Device Manager tab. There, click on (+) Modem, and let us know what kind of modem shows up. If you have a manual for the PC, and it gives you the specific modem model,etc., better yet. Also, do you have a CD with drivers for your PC? If so, have you tried updating driver through Device Manager? Again, select your modem in Device Manager, click on the Properties button, and go to the Driver tab, and update driver from there?

Short answer .. You need to install the driver for the modem.
