I just tried to turn on my Compaq Presario laptop and it won't boot. The screen comes up with the Compaq logo, then the screen goes black and stays black with a small, flashing (command prompt?) white line in the upper left hand corner. Nothing happens after that. All was working fine a few days ago. Can anyone help? thanks, cj

Can you boot from a floppy into dos mode? Since you are getting the logo, it appears that the processor is working. Your hard drive may have come unseated or may be defective. You may also have a virus.

Post back with more information.
